LUXURY FOR LESS

How to create a luxurious wedding day atmosphere without the luxury expense.

Here is a list of tips that all your friends, your family and your wedding planning forgot to tell you about.

Beauty

1. Supplies - Always pack a bottle of baby powder or cornstarch in your cosmetic bag. Powders work great for absorbing sweat, keep you from chaffing, leave a soft feminine scent and won’t stain your dress like deodorants.

Ceremony

2. Candlelight– if you have candles light during your ceremony, ensure that whoever is responsible for transporting decorations to the reception facility does not snuff out your candlelight before you have completed your pictures.

3. Altar Flowers, Trees, Etc. – have your photographer review the placement of these items before taking formal pictures. This will remove the possibility that someone will appear to have a decoration coming out of their head.

4. Aisle Runners – ensure the edges are pinned to floor and ask your ushers to pull the aisle runner straight out and low to the ground. This will prevent the pull string from getting stuck and the aisle runner being pulled up into the air.

5. Communion – if you have chosen to have communion during they ceremony consider using the method where you dip the bread into the wine. This will minimize anyone spilling their wine.

6Pictures – to help speed up the amount of time necessary for pictures appoint someone not in the bridal party to call out the picture sequences.

Reception

7. Contractsbe sure to carry your contracts with you on the day of your event. That way if an issue arises you have proof of what was expected and the issue can be rectified immediately.

8. Cake Cuttingif you are serving cake as part of your dessert menu, check with the reception facility on when they expect you to cut the cake. Many reception facilities require you cut the cake before dinner to allow them enough time to cut the cake and prepare it for dessert. However, if you want to wait they may charge you an extra fee. So, have a “dummy” cake prepared with 1 “real” tier and have a sheet cake pre-cut for dessert.

9. Cake Cutting - more elaborate cakes with multiple tiers will require a separator plate. If you are cutting a middle tier; place the knife under the separator plate. Otherwise, you may knock the cake over.

10. Favors – ensure you tightly wrap and seal your favors. Especially if you have chosen candy, almonds or mints.  Even adults have the desire to throw them at each other in good fun and it is very easy to slip when you step on an almond!
